Summary: Inspired by the fact that Sheppard acts so completely... virginal when it comes to knowing what to do with women who throw themselves at him-- willing, but inexperienced and just a little freaked out.

John sat in the armoury, the smell of gun oil and the monotonous work of cleaning weapons calming nerves frazzled by six months of being apparently abandoned. "So, I finally slept with a woman," he commented to his companion, who was breaking down a recalcitrant stunner to see if he could locate the problem.

"Yeah? How was that?"

John shrugged. "Okay, I guess."

"Just okay?"

"Well, they're not very... well, tight, you know. And they're so... soft and all. I kept thinking I was going to hurt her... And she was so... passive!"

His sometime-lover looked up, blue eyes dancing with amusement. John was generally the passive one when it came to sex, and it suited them fine. "Yeah. Well, if she was a virgin, too..."

"She said she waited for me."

"Yeah, there you go, then. I guess she figured you were the experienced one."

"Why do women always think that?"

"Have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately?"

"So not helping!" John griped.

"Looks like this one's done for. It'll be good for parts, I suppose." Deft fingers held up a badly-burnt part. "So... You wanna get back to sex you're more familiar with?"

"God, yes!"

"My quarters or yours?"

John considered. "Yours. Mine's weirding me out right now."

They quickly stowed their things and walked out together.

"Colonel, Major," Rodney greeted.

John nodded. "McKay. What are you doing down here?"

"Target practice with Ronon. Carson's worried I'm going to kill myself one of these days, so Ronon offered extra help."

Lorne shook his head as Rodney walked away. "McKay and Beckett are so obvious. It's a wonder all of Atlantis doesn't know."

John shrugged. "They just haven't had as much practice."

"Hey," Lorne said, "have you noticed that new little redheaded linguist?"

"Who?"

"Doctor... I don't know. Something Irish."

"What about her?"

"She's been checking your ass out, big-time."

"Please."

"No, really. You should go out with her."

John shook his head. "I think I've had enough of women for a while."

"Yeah." Lorne grinned and the two of them sauntered casually down the corridor, just two military officers with a good working relationship.
